Logmanager System/Server Management
Logmanager is an appliance built on Dell or HPE Server platform. Logmanager physical servers contain Out of Band Management (OoBM) specific for a given server platform - iDrac for Dell or iLO for HPE. OoBM establishes a dedicated management channel for device maintenance. It allows a system administrator to monitor and manage server and its equipment by remote control regardless of whether the machine is powered on, or whether an operating system is installed or functional. Both iDrac and iLO provide a gigabit Ethernet port and require dedicated Ethernet connectivity.
Note to OoBM on Logmanager appliance:
- Pre-configured IP addressing, administrator user name and password are a part of Logmanager handover protocol. If handover document is lost, data can be retrieved through Logmanager support.
- OoBM function is fully licensed.
- Full OoBM documentation is available on the server support website of each manufacturer:
- DELL - https://support.dell.com/
- HPE - https://support.hpe.com/
- Access to BIOS is locked on every Logmanager device. BIOS version and its configuration on Logmanager is customized by vendor and any unauthorized modifications must be prevented. If there is a specific reason to access the BIOS, please contact Logmanager technical support.
